La Presqu’ile de Giens is a peaceful resort on the French Riviera, near the city of Toulon. The village-club “La badine” will host the technical sessions and will accommodate all the delegates. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for all delegates. The Toulon-Hyères Airport is approximately fifteen minutes away by taxi and the TGV Train station of Toulon is about 27 km away.

Principal scientific themes

Radio-frequency discharges are an outstandingly important category of plasma device due to their widespread use in many economically important applications including materials processing, light sources or space propulsion. These applications have motivated many years of intensive research into the mechanisms of operation of these discharges, including topics such as optical characteristics, heating mechanisms, stability, modes of operation, electrical properties, diagnostics, modelling, etc. In spite of this activity, including much work of outstanding scientific quality, many important problems remain.

The first edition of this workshop was held in Dublin in June 2007. The aim was to take stock of recent work on radio-frequency discharges. The subsequent editions were alternatively held in la Presqu’ile de Giens (France) and in Dublin (Ireland). This year the workshop is in France. The workshop will feature presentations on RF sheaths and plasma-surface interactions in capacitive discharges. However, all topics on radio-frequency discharge physics are welcome.

Important Information

The number of attendees is limited to 40 people. Registration will open soon and will close
when the limit has been reached.
